Common Workflows
1. Create a New Blank Image
- Open PicPick.
- Go to the Home / Task Screen.
- Click New.
- Choose canvas settings if PicPick shows a dialog.
- Edit the blank canvas using drawing, text, shape, stamp, fill, and color tools.
- Save the image using File > Save or File > Save As.
2. Open and Edit an Existing Image
- Click Open from the Home screen or File menu.
- Select an image file.
- Use Effects, Resize, Rotate, Text, Draw, Eraser, Fill, Stamps, or Shapes to edit it.
- Save the result.
3. Capture the Entire Screen
- On the Home screen, widget, or hotkey setup, choose Full Screen.
- PicPick captures the screen.
- Based on the configured output type, the image opens in the editor, saves, copies, or is sent to another output.
- Annotate, save, or share the result.
4. Capture a Selected Region
- Choose Region.
- Drag to select the area you want to capture.
- Release the mouse to capture the selected area.
- Edit, save, copy, or share the image.
5. Capture a Fixed Region
- Choose Fixed Region.
- Select or confirm the fixed capture dimensions.
- Position the region over the target area.
- Capture and process the result.
6. Capture a Scrolling Page or Window
- Choose Scrolling Window.
- Select the scrollable window, page, or panel.
- Let PicPick scroll and capture the extended content.
- Review and edit the captured image in the editor.
7. Paste Clipboard Content
- Copy an image or visual content from another app.
- In PicPick, open the Paste menu.
- Choose Paste to insert it into the current image, or Paste to New Tab to create a new image tab from the clipboard.
- Use Move, Resize, Draw, Text, or Shapes as needed.
8. Paste an Image from a File
- Open the Paste menu.
- Choose Paste from File....
- Select the file you want to insert.
- Position or edit the inserted image content.
9. Select Part of an Image
- Click Select.
- Choose Rectangular Selection, Elliptical Selection, Freehand Selection, or Magic Wand Selection.
- Select the target area.
- Use commands such as Copy, Cut, Move, Deselect, or other editing tools.
10. Draw or Highlight an Area
- Open or capture an image.
- Click Draw.
- Select Pencil, Brush, Soft Brush, Calligraphy, Airbrush, or Marker.
- Choose a color from Color1, Color2, or the palette.
- Adjust thickness using Size.
- Draw on the image.
11. Erase or Retouch Part of an Image
- Open or capture an image.
- Click Eraser.
- Select Eraser or Background Eraser for erasing.
- For retouching, choose Smudge Tool, Pixelation Tool, Blur Tool, Sharpen Tool, or Warp Tool.
- Brush over the area you want to modify.
12. Fill an Area
- Click Fill.
- Select Contiguous Fill, Transparent Fill, or Color Replacement Fill.
- Choose the fill color or replacement color using Color1, Color2, or the eyedropper.
- Click the area you want to fill or replace.
13. Add Text to a Screenshot
- Open or capture an image.
- Click Text on the Home tab.
- Choose Default Text or a preset Text Style.
- Click the image where you want the text to appear.
- Type your text.
- Adjust color using Color1, Color2, or the palette.
14. Add Stamps
- Open or capture an image.
- Click Stamps.
- Choose a stamp from Number Stamps, Cursor Stamps, or General Stamps.
- Click the image to place the stamp.
- Move or resize the stamp if needed.
15. Add Shapes, Lines, or Arrows
- Open or capture an image.
- Click Shapes.
- Choose a shape, line, arrow, or custom shape.
- Choose colors from Color1 and Color2.
- Adjust thickness using Size if the shape has an outline or line style.
- Drag on the canvas to draw the shape.
16. Resize or Rotate an Image
- Open the image in the editor.
- Click Resize.
- Choose Image Resize... to resize the image content, or Canvas Resize... to change the canvas area.
- Click Rotate if you need to rotate or flip the image.
- Save the edited image.
17. Apply an Effect
- Open or capture an image.
- Click Effects.
- Choose an effect such as Invert, Grayscale, Pixelate..., Frame..., Watermark..., Blur, Sharpen, Brightness / Contrast..., Hue / Saturation..., or Color Balance....
- Adjust options if PicPick opens a dialog.
- Apply the effect and save the result.
18. Choose Colors and Palettes
- Click Color1 or Color2.
- Choose from Theme Colors, Standard Colors, or Custom Colors.
- Use More Colors... for a wider color selection.
- Use the palette More menu to switch between Pastel Colors, Primary Colors, Default, or Theme 1 through Theme 5.
19. Manage Image Tabs
- Right-click an image tab.
- Choose Rename... to rename it, Save to save it, Close to close the active tab, or Close All to close all tabs.
- Use Open File Location..., Copy Path to Clipboard, or Delete File when those commands are available for a saved file.
20. Share an Image
- Open or capture an image.
- Go to the Share tab.
- Choose a destination such as Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, FTP Server, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Paint, or External Program.
- Complete any sign-in, upload, save, or program selection prompts.
21. Use the Widget
- Open the PicPick widget.
- Click a capture icon, the screen recorder icon, the gear for capture options, or the wrench for tools.
- Use Always on Top if you want the widget to stay visible.
- Use Lock the Widget to prevent moving it accidentally.
22. Record the Screen
- Click Screen Recorder from the Home screen, widget, or tools menu.
- Use Options > Recording to configure output folder, file type, FPS, quality, audio, and hotkey.
- Press F9 to start or stop recording if the default recording hotkey is enabled.
- Open the output folder after recording if the popup is enabled.
23. Pick a Color from the Screen
- On the Home screen or widget tools menu, click Color Picker.
- Select a color from the screen.
- Use the copied color code or apply the sampled color in PicPick.
24. Measure Screen Elements
Use the measurement tools under Graphic Accessories or the widget tools menu:
- Pixel Ruler for width, height, and spacing.
- Crosshair for coordinates and alignment.
- Protractor for angles.
- Magnifier for pixel-level inspection.
