Common Workflows

1. Create a New Blank Image

  1. Open PicPick.
  2. Go to the Home / Task Screen.
  3. Click New.
  4. Choose canvas settings if PicPick shows a dialog.
  5. Edit the blank canvas using drawing, text, shape, stamp, fill, and color tools.
  6. Save the image using File > Save or File > Save As.

2. Open and Edit an Existing Image

  1. Click Open from the Home screen or File menu.
  2. Select an image file.
  3. Use Effects, Resize, Rotate, Text, Draw, Eraser, Fill, Stamps, or Shapes to edit it.
  4. Save the result.

3. Capture the Entire Screen

  1. On the Home screen, widget, or hotkey setup, choose Full Screen.
  2. PicPick captures the screen.
  3. Based on the configured output type, the image opens in the editor, saves, copies, or is sent to another output.
  4. Annotate, save, or share the result.

4. Capture a Selected Region

  1. Choose Region.
  2. Drag to select the area you want to capture.
  3. Release the mouse to capture the selected area.
  4. Edit, save, copy, or share the image.

5. Capture a Fixed Region

  1. Choose Fixed Region.
  2. Select or confirm the fixed capture dimensions.
  3. Position the region over the target area.
  4. Capture and process the result.

6. Capture a Scrolling Page or Window

  1. Choose Scrolling Window.
  2. Select the scrollable window, page, or panel.
  3. Let PicPick scroll and capture the extended content.
  4. Review and edit the captured image in the editor.

7. Paste Clipboard Content

  1. Copy an image or visual content from another app.
  2. In PicPick, open the Paste menu.
  3. Choose Paste to insert it into the current image, or Paste to New Tab to create a new image tab from the clipboard.
  4. Use Move, Resize, Draw, Text, or Shapes as needed.

8. Paste an Image from a File

  1. Open the Paste menu.
  2. Choose Paste from File....
  3. Select the file you want to insert.
  4. Position or edit the inserted image content.

9. Select Part of an Image

  1. Click Select.
  2. Choose Rectangular Selection, Elliptical Selection, Freehand Selection, or Magic Wand Selection.
  3. Select the target area.
  4. Use commands such as Copy, Cut, Move, Deselect, or other editing tools.

10. Draw or Highlight an Area

  1. Open or capture an image.
  2. Click Draw.
  3. Select Pencil, Brush, Soft Brush, Calligraphy, Airbrush, or Marker.
  4. Choose a color from Color1, Color2, or the palette.
  5. Adjust thickness using Size.
  6. Draw on the image.

11. Erase or Retouch Part of an Image

  1. Open or capture an image.
  2. Click Eraser.
  3. Select Eraser or Background Eraser for erasing.
  4. For retouching, choose Smudge Tool, Pixelation Tool, Blur Tool, Sharpen Tool, or Warp Tool.
  5. Brush over the area you want to modify.

12. Fill an Area

  1. Click Fill.
  2. Select Contiguous Fill, Transparent Fill, or Color Replacement Fill.
  3. Choose the fill color or replacement color using Color1, Color2, or the eyedropper.
  4. Click the area you want to fill or replace.

13. Add Text to a Screenshot

  1. Open or capture an image.
  2. Click Text on the Home tab.
  3. Choose Default Text or a preset Text Style.
  4. Click the image where you want the text to appear.
  5. Type your text.
  6. Adjust color using Color1, Color2, or the palette.

14. Add Stamps

  1. Open or capture an image.
  2. Click Stamps.
  3. Choose a stamp from Number Stamps, Cursor Stamps, or General Stamps.
  4. Click the image to place the stamp.
  5. Move or resize the stamp if needed.

15. Add Shapes, Lines, or Arrows

  1. Open or capture an image.
  2. Click Shapes.
  3. Choose a shape, line, arrow, or custom shape.
  4. Choose colors from Color1 and Color2.
  5. Adjust thickness using Size if the shape has an outline or line style.
  6. Drag on the canvas to draw the shape.

16. Resize or Rotate an Image

  1. Open the image in the editor.
  2. Click Resize.
  3. Choose Image Resize... to resize the image content, or Canvas Resize... to change the canvas area.
  4. Click Rotate if you need to rotate or flip the image.
  5. Save the edited image.

17. Apply an Effect

  1. Open or capture an image.
  2. Click Effects.
  3. Choose an effect such as Invert, Grayscale, Pixelate..., Frame..., Watermark..., Blur, Sharpen, Brightness / Contrast..., Hue / Saturation..., or Color Balance....
  4. Adjust options if PicPick opens a dialog.
  5. Apply the effect and save the result.

18. Choose Colors and Palettes

  1. Click Color1 or Color2.
  2. Choose from Theme Colors, Standard Colors, or Custom Colors.
  3. Use More Colors... for a wider color selection.
  4. Use the palette More menu to switch between Pastel Colors, Primary Colors, Default, or Theme 1 through Theme 5.

19. Manage Image Tabs

  1. Right-click an image tab.
  2. Choose Rename... to rename it, Save to save it, Close to close the active tab, or Close All to close all tabs.
  3. Use Open File Location..., Copy Path to Clipboard, or Delete File when those commands are available for a saved file.

20. Share an Image

  1. Open or capture an image.
  2. Go to the Share tab.
  3. Choose a destination such as Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, FTP Server, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Paint, or External Program.
  4. Complete any sign-in, upload, save, or program selection prompts.

21. Use the Widget

  1. Open the PicPick widget.
  2. Click a capture icon, the screen recorder icon, the gear for capture options, or the wrench for tools.
  3. Use Always on Top if you want the widget to stay visible.
  4. Use Lock the Widget to prevent moving it accidentally.

22. Record the Screen

  1. Click Screen Recorder from the Home screen, widget, or tools menu.
  2. Use Options > Recording to configure output folder, file type, FPS, quality, audio, and hotkey.
  3. Press F9 to start or stop recording if the default recording hotkey is enabled.
  4. Open the output folder after recording if the popup is enabled.

23. Pick a Color from the Screen

  1. On the Home screen or widget tools menu, click Color Picker.
  2. Select a color from the screen.
  3. Use the copied color code or apply the sampled color in PicPick.

24. Measure Screen Elements

Use the measurement tools under Graphic Accessories or the widget tools menu:

  • Pixel Ruler for width, height, and spacing.
  • Crosshair for coordinates and alignment.
  • Protractor for angles.
  • Magnifier for pixel-level inspection.
